What do you mean I need a Foundation for my Foundation?

Published by Kris under For the Face, Beauty and Spa

For the longest time I thought that all I needed in regards to foundation is that it blended in with my skin tone.  One of the things that you want to do before you apply anything to your face is to apply a moisturizer and let it dry.  By doing this you are not only hydrating your face but you are also helping to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, improving over clarity and the tone of your skin.  With summer just around the corner I also suggest you apply BeautiControl’s Cell Block-C New Cell Protection SPF 20 (an amazing product that is super gentle for all skin types, fights signs of aging and has UVA/UVB protection) before you apply moisturizer.

In the ladder part of my teen years I notice redness coming up on my cheeks.   I really didn’t put to much thought into then because it was not horrible and I really didn’t have to put a lot of money into blush as it looked like I had rosey cheeks.

Well I now know that the “rosey” cheeks were just the start of what is now Broken Capillaries all over my cheeks.  I do not have the money to go and have laser surgery to correct them or treat them if you will.  I do what I can do to hide what one website refers to as my “ugly imperfections” commonly caused by “excessive alcohol consumption”.  Now before I get to the actual tips in this blog I do want to say that I myself do not consider broken capillaries as ugly and I do believe that people have them due to hereditary factors.  While I am convinced that they can be caused by alcohol abuse that is not the cause of mine as I had them at such a young age and I want people to understand that just because people have Broken Capillaries it does not mean they have an issue with alcoholism.

So what do you do if you are like me and have some skin discolorations?  How do we tone down some of the red, yellow and blue undertones?  One of the things I have been doing that has made a difference is I started using BeautiControl’s Mint Secret Agent Color Primer before applying my foundation (remember this is not going to cure Broken Capillaries just hide them).  It really has made a big difference in how my foundation looks and makes it appear that I have a more even skin tone. They offer 4 different primers 3 are targeted at common skin discolorations. Colored primers are applied only to the places where you experience discoloration.

Yellow:  For those who have dark circles under their eyes and for blue undertonesMint:  This helps even out redness

Mauve:  For the yellow undertones

Natural: This one is clear, and contributes to a flawless look.  This is applied all over your face and helps to keep your make stay in place

So there you have it, primer is the foundation for your foundation that gives you a softer look and a more even skin tone.

If you would like more information on BeautiControl’s Primers, Foundations or the amazing Cell Block-C feel free to contact me.

5 Things I Wish My Mother Would Have Told Me About Make up

Published by Kris under Beauty and Spa

I am a product of 1970 and did not even explore the world of Make-up until the early- mid 1980’s.  It was the time of BIG hair and BLUE eye shadow.  My aunt is the one who is mostly responsible for my make-up application techniques today but there are some things I had to learn on my own along the way and I want to pass them along to you.

1.  Blue Eye shadow generally does not look that great on people who have very light blue eyes.  My eyes are small and very light blue and in some of the photos of my teen years I look like I do not have any eyelids because all you see is the little whites of my eyes and blue from my lower lids all the way up to my eyebrows.  Over 20 years later and I can honestly say I have not bought blue eye shadow since the 80’s.  Oh and word to the wise.. if you are over 60 please read the next point in this blog…

2.  Less is more.  As you can see from the previous point I went a little overkill with the Blue Eye shadow and instead of trying to enhance the beauty that I have I was more concerned about trying to cover what I didn’t like and this can and usually does lead to a “caked on look”.   I have since learned that when you put your make-up on with a heavy hand that all people notice is your make-up and not you.  So go light and get noticed.

3.  Do not pump your mascara brush in and out of the tube.  This one point took me a long time to learn.  I seemed to always go through mascara a lot faster than my friends yet we basically applied mascara about the same number of times each day.  It wasn’t that I was buying cheap mascara it was because for some reason someone along the way told me pump the brush in and out a couple of times and this action really did nothing more than dry my mascara out faster.  It really does make a big difference believe it or not.

4.  While we are on the topic of mascara I wish I had been told to use the tip of the mascara brush for lower lashes.  I always held my brush horizontally for both my upper and lower lashes and I was very jealous of those whose lashes really framed their eyes.  The tip is to use the tip, of your brush that is.  Hold your mascara wand up and down and run the tip of your mascara brush along your lower lashes making sure to take it all the way across the lash line and I even use the tip on the inner and outer corner lashes which really frames the eyes and makes them pop.

5.  Compliment your skin and features not your clothes and accessories!  I used to do this!!  I had every color of the rainbow in eye shadow so that I always had something to match the color I was wearing.  I have since learned that just because you are wearing a dark green forest shirt does not mean your eye shadow has to match.  And actually it never should.  For my color eyes (light blue as mentioned before) and light skin tone I do very well with shades of lavenders, beiges and taupes.  No matter what color I am wearing I know I cannot go wrong with the natural colors because you want to highlight your facial features not your shoes.  I do have some more things I wish my mother or aunt had taught me but I would love to hear yours!  Feel free to post what you wish you had found out about make-up when you first started wearing it.

Make-Up Tip for the day:  Now that summer is here check your foundation and make sure it is still blending with your skin tone.  If you tan in the summer (or use self tanners) you will want to go a shade (maybe even 2 depending on how dark you tan) darker than you normally wear.  By doing this you will avoid the pasty look and keep that summer time glow.

Remember take time for yourself today!

Herbal Serenity Show of Hands Instant Manicure

Published by Kris under Hands

This product is created by BeautiControl and is distributed via Independent BeautiControl Consultants.

This product is an exfoliant for your hands. It does include natural oils that moisturize and helps to protect your hands.

This is a very good sized container approximately 10 fl oz. When you first get the product you may think that it is defective because it looks like the product has separated. It is not defective as the product must be stirred prior to using. I strongly suggest using a plastic spoon to mix the product it is the best way I have found to get the Dead Sea Salts and natural oils mixed without making a mess.

The first thing I want to tell you about this product is that you do not need a lot of it at one time to achieve amazing results! This is great as the product will last at least one month and probably longer depending on how often you use it.

You can use the product once in the morning and once at night if you have problematic hands (dry, chapped etc.) or if your career requires that you wash your hands a lot. If you are just wanting to exfoliate your hands, keep them soft and young looking then you will probably use Show of Hands once a day to every third day.

When I first used Show of Hands I was amazed at the difference it made in my hands INSTANTLY! Not only did the my hands feel soft they really looked great too. The scent of the product is very calming and I could not help but go around asking people to smell my hands.. If you could have only seen their faces.

The bottom line is this product is a MUST have product if you wash your hands a lot, do yard work/gardening, work outside in the elements or just want soft amazing looking hands (after all did you know that your hands is one of the first things people notice about you?).

The price is a actually a bargain at 26.50 considering how long it will last and the instant results it provides.
